Artful Seniors Livelihood Project (ASLP) is a senior led project that encourages seniors to participate in group art sessions. CAAP provides professional instructors and appropriate art materials free of cost to the participants. These group sessions give opportunities for seniors to connect with each other and the community, explore artistic avenues, gain self-confidence, assurance to learn or perfect an art skill and promote health equity among seniors. In addition to learning art skills, the programs promote the development of friendship, comradery, and trust within the classroom. Given the vulnerability of seniors, we take an opportunity to educate the participants on elder abuse. The project encourages entrepreneurship, social connection and financial independence among seniors.
This fundraising initiative project grows and sells herbs and vegetables year rounds via hydroponics technology. The Hydrofarm Food Project is currently in operation to increase CAAP’s charitable impact. We are serving local businesses in Calgary. Not only will the urban farming initiative provide funding to expand our organization’s art-focused programs, but most importantly it will increase health awareness among our participants as they learn to plant, harvest, and eat locally sourced herbs and vegetables.
To support this fundraising initiative, orders can be made by completing the ORDER FORM.
CAAP Sustainable Livelihood Project (CSLP) is a poverty reduction strategy that supports unemployed artists and low-income individuals with limited access to employment, income generating opportunities and lack the training to successfully enter the job market. The goal is to improve the livelihood of participants by providing opportunities for them to create and sell products that are in demand by our business partners. Thus, creating sustainable employment experience and financial opportunities for CAAP’s participants.
